PROJECT
HOT TAMALE MEXICAN RESTAURANT
LOCATION
DARWIN WATERFRONT
YEAR
2015
SCOPE
To design a vibrant and authentic Mexican restaurant within the Darwin Waterfront Precinct, blending Mexican culture and cuisine into a welcoming, aesthetically pleasing, and functional space that caters to both locals and tourists.
KEY ASPECTS
Rather than provide the client with a standard cliché Mexican Sombrero-inspired design, the design borrows from earlier Aztec culture and employed more traditional Aztec and Toltec elements to provide a unique, vibrant and timeless design.
The existing base ceiling was very low, and with the clever use of lighting and geometric bulkheads the design turns this negative element into the venue's most striking feature.
